The Divide is a civilized nation in the West Coast region.

Historical background

Made up of the Pre-War cities of Ashton and Hopeville, The Divide was informally "founded" by the constant traversal of a Courier on a dangerous path. By 2275, Ulysses, a former Legion member, has become its leader.

National spirits

The Divide starts with two national spirits:

The "Divide" is the name of the settlements located near the old world ruins of Ashton and Hopeville. These ruins have been preserved due to the fact that strange storms constantly blanket the valley, keeping the scars of the old world laid bare and open.

The Divide is so pristine that those living there can still find symbols and heraldry that the old world left behind.

Behind the Scenes

  • The Divide is based on the region of the same name mentioned throughout Fallout: New Vegas and depicted in its final add-on: Lonesome Road. Due to Old World Blues 2275 setting, Courier 6's accidental triggering of the nuclear reserves underneath the region has not occurred, leaving the nation intact.
  • According to the developers, the Divide is not to receive any kind of focus tree in the forseeable future, with one of the biggest reasons being that the Marked Men are unable to leave.[1]
