Army

Starting Units

The Blue Rose Society starts with 8 Divisions, 4 of which are Militia and 4 Infantry

Templates

The Starting Infantry Template has the "Vault Tec Security" historical division names group selected by default. However the EDA does not otherwise have access to this name group, meaning if you change it or delete the template you will lose access to the name group for the rest of the playthrough.

Graphic Culture

The Blue Rose Society is part of the Vault Tec graphical Unit Group.

Equipment

The Blue Rose Society starts with 5 Infantry Equipment, 2 Trains and 300 Demolitions as well as Fireteam Weaponry[1] in its stockpile at game start.

Having 5 factories, The Blue Rose Society has an extremely small industrial capacity, compared to other nations located in New Mexico, namely Lanius's Cohort with 16 factories, The Executives with 8 and The Archdiocese of Santa Fe with 7. The Concentration of the Blue Rose's factories in their Capital allows the player to fall back and concentrate their defence around Roswell during the Legion war without losing any of their Industry.

Starting Resources
Water Energy Scrap Metal Composite Materials Circuitry Advanced Components

The Blue Rose Society starts with a sizeable amount of resources, including decent deposits of advanced resources located in the capital.

  • Lanius can add an additional 7 Composite Materials or 7 Circuitry if choosing so via the event "Magics".
  • Part of Roswell's resources can be removed with the Maxon Technology lease, a focus for the Summers Federation. [2]

Technology

The Blue Rose Society Starts with 5 research slots and can get a sixth one via their focus tree. They start with having Advanced Industry levels and Intermediate Army and Robot Levels. No vehicle Tech Levels and Tribal Naval and Air Tech levels.

Additionally they start with access to the Vault Tech Infrastructure Tech Tree.

This makes them one of the most advanced Nations without a focus tree in Old World Blues.

Historical background

The Blue Rose Society is composed of the remnants of the Pre-War Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), who worked with scientists to develop weapons for use against the Chinese during the Sino-American War. The Roswell detachment of the FBI survived the Great War by taking shelter inside the underground bunker complex at Roswell and have since then expanded the agency's scope to encompass various administrative and governing duties, making them a government in their own right. However, by 2275, due to a previous assault by Caesar's Legion and the arrival of his eastern vanguard Lanius' Cohort, the Blue Rose Society is gravely threatened and preparing for a pitched war to defend itself from the neo-roman aggressors, a war in which they would be seriously disadvantaged in. Should the Blue Rose Society, however, manage to defeat Lanius, drive his forces past the Rio Grande and expel him from the region, then they will stand a much better chance of surviving on into the future, and perhaps even carving out a realm for themselves from the wastelands.

Politics

Party

The Blue Rose Society is a People nation with a unique Party Icon resembling the Seal of the FBI. Eda people icon.png

National spirits

The Blue Rose Society starts with three national spirits:

"PROJECT MOGUL" Legacy icon
"PROJECT MOGUL" Legacy
The "Blue Rose Society" was the formal, non-confidential name for a series of military bases related to the extant PROJECT MOGUL, a hundred-year research project that sought to study the methods by which new sciences can be used in novel ways to defeat enemies of America. Roswell, New Mexico served as the homes of some of MOGUL's earliest experiments.

After the Great War, the Society has grown greatly to attempt to fill the space left by proper American governance through establishing a local government of regional committees led by a central representing board in Roswell. However, some propose that the Society's higher ups still carry on the scientific tradition of their forebears in the shadows.

Trivia

Twin Peaks

The Blue Rose Societies main influence is most likely the TV-series "Twin Peaks" in which there is a top secret joint task force of the United States military and Federal Bureau of Investigation called "Blue Rose". FBI agent "Gordon Cole" is a prominent character and "Phillip Jeffries" is featured as a mysterious character who is seen disappearing and travelling through time.

X-Com

The Blue Rose Society originally had many strong references to the game series X-Com. At release their leader was called "The Man In Black" and had a Portrait strongly resembling the Spokesman from X-Com. Furthermore their National Spirit: "PROJECT MOGUL" Legacy, was called: Protectors of Mankind which instead of giving defense buffs against various chinese and mexican factions would provide the player with a 5% defence against Zetans. This is why the icon of it is a UFO.

Earth Defence Force

The Blue Rose Society also has various references to the game series Earth Defence Force. These Include the tag of the Blue Rose society: EDA as well as the labelling of some of their modfiles as Earth Defence Force.

Roswell Incident

The Reason there are so many references to Aliens for the Blue Rose Society is because of the 1947 Roswell Incident. Which in the current lore of OWB included an alien being captured near Roswell and being relocated to Area 51. This Alien is the Leader of the Commanders Arsenal.

Blue Rose Rework (Submod)

There exists a submod that focuses on the Blue Rose Society and extensively reworks it by giving it a national focus tree, decisions, events and national ideas. This makes the Blue Rose Society much more playable by making the war with Lanius more manageable and also giving it content to work with after successfully defeating Lanius.

The submod can be found on the Steam Workshop.
