Behind the scenes

  • The Baggers are based on the faction of the same name that was to be depicted in Van Buren, although having been changed to have more of a significant role in Old World Blues than they originally were to in the game.
  • The Baggers were created as a flavor faction by Lord Militus.[3]
    • The Baggers have since been worked on by McGebe, who has sought to integrate the Last Expedition submod as both a single-player and multi-player experience, although they have had to restart the coding of them from scratch.[4]
    • Two additional Baggers submods were worked on by Makronovo and Commander_Vex, respectively who had since modified or abandoned their submods to assist with McGebe's. However, due to their help, the two were featured as characters in the original submod version of the Baggers.[5]
  • The Baggers were first concepted for use in Old World Blues in the 2016 1.0 design document, under the name "NCR Salvagers", with their concept being "These guys are fucked."[6]

They have set up a long range observation base outside of the city and have been transmitting helpful information to the NCR for years. In Old World Blues we expand on their lore - of which they were originally just NCR-aligned scientists near Boulder Dome who were involved in the Boulder Dome story line of that game."
  2. Pip-Boy Plus/Regions#The Baggers: "The “Baggers” are a long term scientific and observation expedition sent by the NCR to study Boulder Dome.

They were originally going to appear in Van Buren and have been carried over relatively wholesale."
  3. Sole Survivor: "But in regards to the other factions, it would be appropriate to say that, as of right now, you've made, or otherwise contributed to, the Luminous Ones, Withered Dogs, Duoshu Lu, Hexie Lu, Sundogs, and now an Egyptian faction?"
Lord Militus: "Correct. And Baggers for flavour stuff too. The Egyptian faction is actually not in production yet, so not sure if you'd include that!

But, five colorado guys and Sun dogs formable yeah"

  4. McGebe: "Yeah? You see, the Last Expedition is really a single-player experience and as such, I could not simply intergrate it as it was.
Right now, next to others, I do work on the Baggers, following both of my submod and the Baggers content that I teased before. Let's say I... restarted the development of it, codewise, from scratch."

  5. McGebe: "All of three of us was working on a Bagger submod, but only mine has ever came out. I have been offered their work, but I did not used of that much, but they helped me with stuff - that's the main reason why both of them are characters in Last Expedition, as a uh... guest appearance?
To be exact, I developed the mod all by myself, but they did helped me with stuff after release."
