Conscription Law

It is in the nature of raiders to band together into rapidly moving groups to easier ambush caravans and avoid the would be pursuers, it is also in their nature to fight in between themselves for the position of the leader. As such with the increasing size of the group it becomes harder and harder to keep the raiders focused and united.

Behind the scenes

  • The Dryblowers originated as a community-suggested nation known as "The Borers", suggested by the user JesusHmotherfuckingChrist. Their description was as follows:
"The Borers are descendants of regional survivors who escaped the nuclear fires above through personal shelters, county shelters, and in rare cases simply being lucky enough not to be in blast zones. The survivors, with skills needed to survive, banded together and seized an old coal mine as a shelter. There they found mining equipment, and a significant stockpile of explosives, allowing them to extract the coal needed to warm their home and light their way. Over generations the mining of coal became an almost ritualistic process for The Borers. They have had great success in producing continuous supplies of coal with salvaged mining equipment, leading to a prosperous period since approximately 2267. They have established themselves as a successful trade hub for mineral resources due to their mining talents and thus, slowly, grew in size and wealth. Now in 2275 the settlement’s borders sit beside the Scorpion’s Bite raiders, and Caesar’s Legion across the river to the South, ever wary of movement from either party. Prior to the growing tension between the new neighbors to the West and South, the only threats to the stability of the settlement came from conflict between notable persons within the community. John “Caveman” Lynch, an aging man of 51 who has guided the settlement to prosperity since 2260 has faced a great deal of opposition due to his method of autocratic rule. Marianne Sharp, a vocal proponent of direct democracy for the settlement has actively worked to undermine Lynch at all opportunities. Another, Maurice Darlinson, seeks to use the salvaged equipment and prosperity of the settlement to expand the knowledge and resources available to them instead of being what he terms ‘humble traders’. The newest political opponent in the settlement, being Eric Howland, sees the prosperity and growth of the settlement and feels that not enough is being done to quash the raiders to the West, or fortify the border against Caesar’s Legion. He desires a strong military buildup, and the destruction of any threat to the settlement’s way of life."

  • The nation was to have four unique leaders: [Ruler] John Lynch (Focus on Defense), [People] Marianne Sharp, [Intellectuals] Maurice Darlinson, [Elites] Eric Howland (Focus on Offense). However, as of version 3.3.8, only John Lynch has been incorporated.

The survivors, with skills needed to survive, banded together and seized an old coal mine as a shelter. There they found mining equipment, and a significant stockpile of explosives - enough to where they could begin raids on other countries in Colorado. For a time, they allied with Hecate - but as of late that relationship has worsened as Hecate has aged.
