Strathcommune is an elite communist nation based in the Northeast Alberta, the remains of the Canadian Peoples Front determined to liberate Canada and its people form capitalist tyranny.

Historical background

Surrounded by enemies, traitors, and invaders the Strathcommune lay battered by the years of endless infighting. Crawling back from its defeat out east, patching the old internal wounds, and rearming for the final assault on the American pigs, our beloved Big Sister sees all! Cameras on every corner, informants in the homes, but yet there still lives a hope for the fate of Canada. Hidden among the shadows, in the dark alleyways and amongst the vanguard party itself lies new plots. Can the army’s artillery blast a hole in the façade? Or will the party paint over and create a new utopian vision? The truth is, none can escape the grasp of the Big Sister!

Colonel Thao People The Workers Democratic Wing No 5.00% Yes The earliest memory Amanda Thao can remember is her parents quizzing her on the weekly party-mandated homework. Lessons on worker unity and the superiority of the communist system. As she grew and joined the revolutionary army, she came to see the cold hard facts of reality. The rosy vison of utopia painted for her in those workbooks was nothing but fantasy. In truth, the system created famines, endless wars of conquest and an endless number of graves. However, she continued in her duty denying herself any thoughts in contrast if the party. Her artificial mindset was shattered when she lead raids down into the Pioneer Company. Unlike Strath, their shelves were at least half filled and their factory's weren't akin to graveyards. While these raids opened her eyes, she returned as a war hero for the party. They carted her around to propaganda events while she secretly fostered a new revolution. A revolution filled not with idyllic dreams but stocked shelves and healthy factories. ---

Antoine Sorel Intellectuals The Farmer Collective Wing No 5.00% Yes The party's charismatic farm boy was originally born into a family destined for historical oblivion. A simple lowly peasant family toiling in the fields, worthy of little mention or caps. However, his adulthood would give him the perfect opportunity to prove his worthiness to the party .With dreams of philosophy and communist thoughts in his eyes, Sorel would spend his nights writing away about every and any topic. He left no stone unturned in his writing ventures just has he left no seed unplanted in the fields. His work ethic and writing quickly became a topic of conversation among party officials, especially once Teresse lost favor. Now, the commune's beloved farmboy shepherders the nation through a green revolution to break the chains of crash industrialization. Silent Workhorse, Well Liked Leader

Amy Teresse Elites The Traditional Wing Yes 70.00% Yes Some call her a snake - others call her an opportunist. But for many, she is the face of the Canadian People's Front, the true heir to its movement. A fervent proponent of Jiang Qing thought, May seeks to unite all of Canada in a rational worker's state. Of course, a worker's state will still need someone to tell the workers what to do.... Paranoid, War Industrialist

The Black Collective Elites The Anarcho-Canadian Collective No 75.00% Yes Canada has cycled through tyrants on after another with no rest. There is no difference between the Americans and the party henchmen. Both leave the common Canadian with empty plates and frozen in the snow. The paradigm must be shattered! Canada has always been destined for true freedom characterized by the abolition of the state. The only way to ensure that every Canadian is free from the jackboot is the absence of the oppressor's apparatus. There shall be no tyranny when there is no authority to yield it. ---

Focus Tree

It also gives you some equipment along with arms workshops and some research bonuses. Overall this branch will help you win the difficult CPF war.

The People Reunited Branch

This is the main political branch for Starthcommune and also serves to give the basic plot for the rest of the play through. To the start you'll have to choose whether to start trade with the Three Rivers Republic, working with them gives you bottle caps and the Startcommune Arms Corp which gives ballistic research speed and lower production cost with stronger soft attack. If you go on your own you will gain stability, a free arms workshop and the Starthcommun Arms Plant which gives increased factory construction at the cost of increased cap expenses. It also gives political power and other basic buffs, other then that it sets up the story of the Starthcommune wining the CPF war and the aftermath.

WARNING PAST THIS POINT ARE SPOILERS, OWB IS A NARRATIVE EXPERIENCE AND IS BEST TO BE EXPOSED FRESH WITH NO IDEA WHAT COMES NEXT

After the civil war the Canadian Workers Congress will attempt a coup of the Chairwomen. whether it succeeds or fails is up to the players.

If the coup fails chairwoman Teresee will grow more and more paranoid leading to a rift in the commune and players can choose between her Pink Revaluation or Antoine Soul's Green Revaluation. If the coup succeeds the Workers Congress will take power. But with all the coups and power grabs the play can choose to let the Black Flag fly , stoping the tyranny of the state by burning it all down.

these are the forth paths for Strathcommune.

Failed Coup Branch. CPF Branch

This branch represents the after shocks of the failed coup. As the party splits between two leaders, Sorel and Teresee. Sorel leads the Green Revaluation focusing on agricultural communism and the power of the farmer. Teresee leads the Pink Revaluation focusing on more control and industry. Part of the branch is dedicated to this power struggle. Most of the branch will help you recuperate form the CPF war with economic and military bonuses it also helps set up a strong base for further conquest. At the conclusion of this branch Sorel and his followers will attempt a coup you choose whether Teresee lives or if Sorel succeeds, you can also decide that the people have had enough of constant coups and let the Black Flag rise.

Commissaires watching every person, the history books being rewritten. with Sorel's personal secret police making sure no other coup happens. Sorel and Teresee have a shared conquest tree. In which you gain wargoals on The Great Stampede, Middlemark, Battleford, Safehaven, the Electorate and the Kingdom of Manitoba. this gives you a nice, clear path for your conquests. Overall Sorel turns Strathcommune into an agriculture power house akin to communist china in its early years.

Big Sister's Watch, Teresee Branch

If Teresee lives through another coup she will form the Canadian Peoples Front with elites remaining the leading party. she will reorganize the military, giving you research bonuses to demolition and logistical tech, she also gives sophisticated infantry tech. you then have the choice to choose one of three military paths. the first focuses on stealing equipment, The second focuses on numbers and not dyeing to attrition, the third focuses on vehicles giving sophisticated vehicle tech. Economics wise her branch is pretty simple giving factory's and building slots, notably gives a three time bonus too robot tech. Politically her branch focuses on giving her max control and power over her people, renaming the party to the Blossom Vanguard Party. Sorel and Teresee have a shared conquest tree. In which you gain wargoals on The Great Stampede, Middlemark, Battleford, Safehaven, the Electorate and the Kingdom of Manitoba. this gives you a nice, clear path for your conquests. Overall Tresee will turn Starthcommune into a 1984'esc surveillance state.

The Black Flag Rises, The Black Collective Branch

after another coup by Sorel, the people have had enough chairmen and enough revolutions. they overthrow the party and Strathcommune becomes the The Black Collective, The elites party is turned into The Black Collective and they become the rulers. The Black Collative has the smallest of the four paths for Starthcommune. Military wise the collective gains wargoals on The Great Stampede and Battleford. Research bonuses for Infantry tech and land doctrines. At the start you purge the old officers giving you depuffs, later these become stronger buffs also at the end getting a reduction to wargoal time.
