Tlalocan is an despotic country in the Mexican region.

Historical background

Tlalocan's greatest "person" of interest is her namesake; a pre-war supercomputer named "Tlaloc" after the Aztec god of rain. Tlaloc’s primary motivation is the preservation of humanity, and the business interests it once represented; primarily those of the Petro Chico company. Though it has catered to these diligently for the last 200 years, Tlaloc is plagued with instability; having segmented himself into many alter egos based on notable Mexicans from the past. The repercussions of Tlaloc's Demise, and which of God's children will rise in his place remains to be seen.

Tlaloc Ruler Ruler Yes 94.00% Yes Unknowable, alien, and alone: Tlaloc gazes at the surface through cold, dead lenses. Its miles of circuitry and constituent components are rotting, decaying as the years pass and revealing more of its guttural mechanical innards. Built by the brightest minds America had to offer, with technology none of them fully understood, the undisputed God of Mexico looms over all aspects of daily life like a spectre. It has killed by the thousands, and it will kill again. In its final days, it reflects on its “life” and accomplishments, on the “children” it will leave behind. Somewhere deep inside its central core, there is a sense of empathy, but it will die before it can ever comprehend what that means. Tlaloc knows exactly when it will die: and so it waits, and plots, and spends its final hours watching the clock with what could be considered “dread”. God from The Machine, Guardian of Mexico, 1000

National focus

The Tlalocan national focus tree can be divided into 7 branches:

Booting Up Branch
This branch allows Tlalocan to determine its history, from its birth to its current near-death state through resulting events, eventually unlocking the other branches of the nation.
  • Wartime Emergency Branch
The war economy branch of Tlalocan, reliant on an outside nation declaring war on one of Tlalocan's protected nations.
  • Sowing the Seed Branch
The Zapata infrastructure and resource branch. Shifts political popularity to Democracy.
  • A Helping Hand Branch
The Maximilian population and technology branch. Shifts political popularity to Technocracy.
  • Standing Guard Branch
The Moctezuma military branch. Shifts political popularity to Oligarchy.
  • The Prodigal Son Branch
The Santa Anna branch. Involves Tlaloc teaching his son to become like him before passing on.
  • The Final Quarter Branch
The branch resulting from whichever leader is decided to lead Tlalocan after Tlaloc's demise. With their new leader and path set, Tlalocan gifts all of his former protectorates and sons of Mexico with various boons, before finally passing away.

Behind the scenes

  • Originally, Tlaloc was incapable of communicating with others on its own, as it was visualized as a massive system network to run the automated systems throughout Mexico, warranting the creation of its "sons" in order to communicate with humans, due to Tlaloc being an inhuman entity. However, due to the writing of Tlaloc's focus tree depicting Tlaloc as an individual "dying father" role, dissonance was created, due to the approaches in writing that the different developers writing the same nation had.[1]
  • Tlaloc had some of its lore worked on by Mechano.[2]
  • Shudderfly and Skip were responsible for Tlaloc.[3]
  • According to Zapdude, Tlalocan's Armageddon Station had less than 5% of its Pre-War stockpile remaining before it is blown up by Tlaloc following his death. Additionally, through the process of "napkin math", Zapdude determined that Tlaloc released approximately 243 megatons of nuclear energy through the detonations if all the warheads were to perfectly detonate.[4]

  1. Is Tlaloc able communicate to normal, non-A.I.s in any way? And if so, how would he do it?
Zusk: "@Puff Cloud Actually, there is a bit of conflicting lore in this regard - 2.0 was so huge that different devs had subtle, different interpretations of Tlaloc.
The original thesis was that Tlaloc was not capable of directly communicating with people on its own. It ( Keyword it, not he ) wasn't even a singular artifical consciousness - but rather a massive system network meant to run a series of automated systems in Mexico. ( Think the automation seen in west virginia in 76.. but crank that up to 11. )
Tlaloc had to make its sub personalities - Maximillian, Zapata etc. in order to communicate with people more directly, since Tlaloc was such a alien thing to the average person that putting on a mask was pretty much the only thing Tlaloc could do.

    However..
Tlaloc's, in certain focus tree writing is also regularly seen as a more individual identity. Tlaloc takes on a dying father role - which technically is how his children see it - but is likely not what it sees itself as.
You can see in Faelin's and Blazzar's replies the dissonance with the internal consensus on Tlaloc's lore - different devs taking the basic premise in different directions. Probably this is something we will try to address in a theoretical update to Tlaloc's tree - but that is a long way off."

    like Tlaloc etc"

  3. Soleful Phoenix: "Besides the TAA, what nations did you design or assist with?"
Shudderfly: "I had a small hand in some of the rebuilding the economy focuses of united texas, I was half of Tlaloc (the other half being skip) half of free fighters (Skip again with help from fae), I did the research and economy trees of Ouroboros, the research and economy trees of the Texas Mutants, and the manifest destiny tree for NCR."

  4. Zapdude: "Tlaloc blows most of them up before Anna can get his hands on them after his death
but there was already a warhead or two loaded into the Silo that he couldn't dispose of, or wouldn't, depending
Tlaloc has something like less than 5% of the US pre-war stockpile remaining
    before he removes them
mostly unused dregs from the great war
i did some napkin math for how large the detonation would be when it went off
and assuming all the warheads went off perfectly
    it was something like
243 megatones worth of nuclear power"
