Far Son is a nation of Mole Miners in The Great North region.

Historical background

Down in the dark, dank mines left behind by Alton Bourges is a creature beyond remorse or sense: the Mole Miner. Powered by a ceaseless desire and ambition to wander and grow, the Boss of the Far Son Prospectors has issued a strange, inutterableIn-game spelling verdict: the Miners would return to the surface world, and take it for their own, one way, or another...

National Focuses

The Far Son national focus tree can be divided into four branches:

  • The Steppes of Wyoming Branch
This branch allows Far Son to determine their starting ideological, political, and economic focuses through resulting events, eventually unlocking the other branches of the nation.
  • The Fields of Wyoming Branch
The resource production and manpower branch. The branch allows expansion of infrastructure, production, and manpower, while also allowing for economic gain.
  • The Fires Upon the Hills Branch
The armed forces branch. The branch provides both national spirits, building construction, and research bonuses to the warfare abilities of Far Son.
  • Sixteen Tons Branch
The Far Son domination branch. It first focuses on providing technology research and additions, then, once Wyoming is under Far Son's control, they expand outside the state, seeking either Utah, Montana, or Colorado, ending with their discovery of the Mini-Nuke.

Behind the scenes

  • Both Far Son and Highland Watch were made in approximately 4-5 days by Violet, Twit, and Aider.Alvin, using shared Wyoming focus tree branches Violet made.
    • Aider.Alvin wrote every event for both nations, while Violet coded both focus trees and wrote most, if not all, focus tree localizations.
    • The Mole Miner portraits were created by Twit.
    • Twit was also responsible for getting Mole Miner sounds, obtained by Flubbins, to function in-game.[1][2]

  1. how long does it usually take to do a tree before you are satisfied with it? Or is by a tree by tree basis?
Violet: "it depends. i don’t like working on stuff alone (conceptually) so i usually kidnap other heads for extra brainspace.

there was a point in development i got upset and decided to make something— in 4-5 days, me, @[FlowerPower] Twit, and @[FlowerPower] Guh managed to make Highland Watch & Far Son using shared wyoming branches I made in the same session. @[FlowerPower] Twit made some awesome Mole Miner portraits and got their sounds to work (thanks to files generously given to us by @[FlowerPower] Drip Flubbins my beloved), @[FlowerPower] Guh wrote every event, and I coded both trees and wrote most if not all of the focus localization. If I recall, the fifth day was spent trying to fix issues with Conscription Laws. Lots of comedic back-and-forth between me and Twit back then"

  2. Violet: "In 4.0, the following are ones I coded:

    I. Montana Chapter
    II. Rotpurgers
    III. Highland Watch
    IV. Far Son
    V. Big Grass (part 1)

@[FlowerPower] Lusa did more stuff around, like Shi localization IIRC is all hers, but I’m not entirely sure what all she got up to outside of our schemes"
