Lone Star is a town in the Texan region.

Historical background

Once little more than a small town on the I-20, Lone Star bloomed in the hellish aftermath of the Great War as a beacon of trade and hope. Caravans soon began to move up and down the I-20, and Lone Star rapidly expanded its city limits: quickly outstripping the ruins of the pre-war town.

More than a decade ago, Lone Star suffered a vicious inserectionIn-game spelling at the hand of the Hand Warband. The ruthless raiders were put down, but splinters of the group are persisted in our border communities. Renewed violence could not come at a worse time for Lone Star...

Controlling the trade routes of Texas, Lone Star was created from the remnants of the city of Abilene, as well as Vault dwellers from Vault 39 and military remnants from Dyess Air Force Base.

Over the decades, spurned by a trader from Dallas, Lone Star solidified itself as the trade capitol of the region, hosting merchants from across the state. Due to its prosperity, Lone Star was plagued by the Hand Gang, with full domination from the gang prevented by the Lawmen of Lone Star and the mayor's mercenary forces. However, for decades, the status quo was unchanged, leaving a shifting balance of power between the two forces. That was until the Lawmen requested the assistance of the Texan Brotherhood, who assisted in driving out the Hand Gang, allowing Lone Star to expand.

Due to their alliance, the Brotherhood and Lone Star discussed the possibility of a formal union, with talks in 2270 allowing for the realization of a Texan Economic Union, the Texan Dollar backed by the Union, and a stable alliance and shifting military stance by 2275.[1]

National spirits

Lone Star starts with five national spirits:

A Hand Gang Resurgence? icon
A Hand Gang Resurgence?
  • Resource Gain Efficiency: -10.00%
  • Weekly Manpower: -4
  • Encryption: -10.00%
Whilst the Hand Gang has long since been crushed, their members spread across our lands and beyond. We dismissed splinters as harmless, but it seems recently these splinters have gained some form of central coordination. Emboldened, they have begun attacking our outposts and settlements. The situation threatens to get out of hand: and fast.
Fatigued Lawmen icon
Fatigued Lawmen
  • Political Power Gain: -5%
  • Division Attack: -10.0%
  • Daily Command Power Gain Multiplier: -40%
Once the peacekeepers of our streets, the Lawmen have fought many battles for the greater good. Sadly, the Lawmen seem to need to be called out ever more frequently, and they're starting to feel the strain.
Control of the I-20 icon

  • Military Factory construction speed: +5.00%
Now that Shale's Mutant Army occupies the I-10, the I-20 is the only safe road for traders to enter Texas through. As a result, it has become a thriving trade route, and our precious Lone Star is the beating heart of it all. All trade must flow on the I-20, and so all trade must flow through Lone Star: bringing with it all manner of exotic goods and rare artifacts.
Brotherhood Military Advisors icon

  • Army Experience Gain: +0.05 daily
  • Land Doctrine Research Speed: +10%
  • Infantry Equipment: Soft attack: +5%
  • This Design Company will permanently affect capabilities on all equipment researched while they are active.
As part of the Texan Economic Union, the Brotherhood provides us with some military experts to help us improve and upgrade our military. Their help has been invaluable over the last decade, leading to the successful establishment of both the I-20 Patrolmen and the Rapid Response Corp. More is surely to come.

So long as this clause in the Texan Economic Union remains active, we shall have access to special Brotherhood advisors.

Behind the scenes

  • HappyTNH created Lone Star's focus tree,[2] basing the tree on the style of major nation that is "somewhat typical in history and fiction."[3] Faeelin was also involved with reworking the nation at some point during development.[4]

  3. 3. With Lonestar/Lone Star, although heavily American and Texan, having not only Cho Bang, an Asian mayor, but also being the head of the Texan Economic Union, would it be correct to think of them as the Texan version of the NCR, or would it be only vague similarities, rather than intentional decisions? Such as having a tendency to have overextended itself, its reliance on outsourcing military forces (Desert Rangers/Lawmen), and having a minority figure as a central leader (Tandi, a woman, as President, and Bang, an Asian, as Mayor)?
HappyNTH: "It depends on how far you consider it a coincidence to have similar design. The national similarities are more akin to a style of major nation that's somewhat typical in history and canon/fanon, rather than Lonestar being deliberately styled on the NCR. It's third variable."
