A faction is a coalition of nations that are allied to each other.
Rules
It is impossible to create a faction manualy in this mod, all factions not already present at the start of the game must be created through focuses.
Factions in 2275
Major Factions
NCR
While the NCR is a powerful faction, in 2275 it's power comes mainly from the size, and power of the New California Republic and the strategic location of the Mojave Territories which controls The Dam as well as encircles the entirety of the Mojave Chapter. Despite their apparent initial strength, the New California Republic is initially plagued by crises that limit it's ability to expand, except for expansion into
the Rapids,
the Divide,
Paz Bandits, and
Valle Bandits.

Through the course of gameplay, other nations may join the NCR. Under default AI behavior, these often include New Reno,
Shi, and
Arroyo.
Potential Members:
Ultimately, the NCR will go to war with the other great power of the Mojave, Caesar's Legion.
Caesar's Legion/The Legion
The Legion is a faction named after the great unifier himself. While all it's constituents occupy inhospitable deserts and mountains it has ample room to grow towards the West and many a strong potential ally in the South (South East) and North (North East) with its Eastern Flank protected by a couple of minors and the Colorado river.

Through the course of gameplay, other nations may join the Legion. Under default AI behavior, these often include Gente Del Sol and
White Legs.

Texas Economic Union
Texas Economic union is a faction built upon the cooperation of Lone Star and the
Texan Brotherhood, with the ultimate goal of building a Republic of Texas. This strong position is precarious however. Quickly,
Lone Star will face a civil war led by the Hand Warband that can destroy the dream of Texas before it truly begins and
Texan Brotherhood will be split by dissenters from the
Alamo Chapter.

Through focuses and events, an AI Tubeheads will join the Texas Economic Union as a puppet of
Texan Brotherhood if the TEU survives initial struggles. There is a chance for other
Texan Brotherhood expansion targets to join the TEU as well.

The Great Plains federation is a federation of Native nations: Chickasaw-Muscogee Coalition,
Cherokee Nation, and
Choctaw Nation. It's only a few years from complete federalization under central government as the State of Sequoyah, if it can deal with the threat posed by
The Last Patrol, who imagine a new Oklahoma instead.

The Order of St. Joseph is a faction that consists of The Order and its defacto puppet, the
Belden Area Authority.

Dundurn. Under most circumstances this faction will devolve into a civil war with only one survivor.
Rio Pact
A faction consisting initially of Republic of the Rio Grande and its puppet
Texan Arms Association.

Minor factions are not factions composed of minor nations, it is a term describing Factions made up of only one nation (at least in 2275).

The Children of the Gate are a religious group led by Heaven's Gate.

The Western Brotherhood of Steel is led by the Lost Hills Chapter. Although initially small and surrounded by the NCR, the Brotherhood can expand across the map, (eventually) able to invite most of the existing Brotherhood chapters and then some.

Many nations in Old World Blues can form factions, either through their focus tree or by event. In some cases, where multiple nations can form the same faction they instead can join that faction.

Created by the Northern Khans who decide to Settle Down or to return to the Old Ways. This represents the Khans attempting to reconcile with their old reputation and become allies with other friendly, often People led nations. The Northern Khans gain access to a number of Focuses that give buffs to all Faction members.

Nevada Pact
A diverse faction made up of various powers in Nevada, seeking to remain independent of the NCR but not necessarily as an enemy. Whoever forms the faction first becomes it's leader, with others then able to join through their focus tree or decision.

Twin Mothers, Diana has the opportunity to attempt to sway Lanius. If she succeeds, Lanius will revolt and leave Caesar's Legion and form the Nova Legion with the
Twin Mothers.

A faction formable by the Eighties. When the
Eighties split, the
Thunderbirds, seeking a Second Nevada Road War, will form the Road Warriors faction.
The Second Coalition
Formable by the Republic of Three Rivers. The
Republic of Three Rivers has the ultimate goal of toppling the
Kingdom of Manitoba. A coalition to fight the kingdom is always an option, but is the only one if the
Riding Mountain Mooseketeers rebellion fails.
