WARDEN is a country only playable by completing the Hangdogs National Focus Open the Box. Once the focus is completed, the player is given two options. Either they stay with the Hangdogs, or you switch to WARDEN. If you choose the second option, you will start playing WARDEN.

WARDEN spawns in 3 states including Dog City, but are in a Civil War immediately with the Hangdogs. Should WARDEN win this civil war, they will unlock their side of the shared unique focus tree with Hangdogs.

Historical Background

The WARDEN security protocol is a series of pre-war programs ran by the ZAX mainframe held within The Box, a great robot production facility in the heart of Denver. WARDEN was scripted by Robco programmers to suppress disorderly conduct and quell rioting.

Now, two hundred years later WARDEN has been re-activated from stand-by mode, and is more than eager to bring Denver back to order.

Starting Position

Geography

WARDEN starts in a precarious situation. At war with the Hangdogs, it is surrounded in Dog City from two sides. If WARDEN wins the Civil war however, they will become a powerful regional power. WARDEN starts in Central Colorado, a big desert in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains to the east. The Platte river makes a natural border to the north, while the Arkansas river marks the southern border. To the east is Robot City, perhaps an ally. To the north are minor nations such as Baggers, Iron Alliance, Luminous Ones, and the Withered Dogs. To the northwest lies Boulder, under control of the Glowbugs, a puppet state of Black Canyon. To the east are a few small mountain nations, such as the Claim Jumpers, Scorpion's Bite and Circle Junction.

The south however is the most important as Lanius's Cohort and Maxson Expedition are big enemies to watch out for.

Faction and Allies

WARDEN is in a unique position to create a powerful Defensive Alliance. A little while after the Civil War, WARDEN can create the Denver Defense Network. WARDEN becomes the leader of the alliance, as they are the only member in the beginning. But soon after WARDEN can expand the alliance by inviting friendly nations such as Robot City, Reclamation Army Depot, or even Oklahoma (if they form). This means that the Denver Defense Network can become one of the strongest factions in the region, even rivalling the Texan Economic Union or the Rio Pact.

Industry

WARDEN starts as a small splinter nation, so in the beginning their industry is not so great. They start with:

  • 11 Military Factories, all unassigned.
  • 7 Civilian Factories, of which all 7 are used for Consumer Goods. This means WARDEN can use 0 for building.
  • 0 Naval Dockyards

If they win their civil war however, the industry can quickly spiral up, as the Colorado industry is still big.

Divisions and Templates

WARDEN starts with 12 Divisions, putting them around even with the Hangdogs for their war. These are their templates:

  • Denver Police, 12 Divisions (6 Light Robot Battalions & CnC attachment)
  • Militia Force, garrison units, 0 Divisions (4 Militia Battalions)
  • Light Robot Division, 0 Divisions (6 Light Robots)

These Light Robot units make WARDEN a strong opponent to face, as Robots can withstand a lot of attacks. However, they require a lot of fuel, of which WARDEN has almost 0 at start. This makes their units almost worthless. To stand a chance, WARDEN needs to sort out the fuel issues.

Politics

National Spirits

WARDEN starts with only 1 National Spirit, and it is The Scrap Metropolis.

People come to Denver, "Dog City", from far and wide to partake in the riches of that once great metropolitan city. They bring caps and the trade is good, but their presence makes it harder to control the city ourselves!
