Although Colonel Santiago has helped develop Western Montana and brought law and order, MacArthur's research base cannot rival the bright lights of Chicago. As one of her few scientists lamented, it felt like the visionaries at MacArthur spent their time relearning basic techniques like crop rotation instead of harnessing the power of the atom or FEV as they did out east.

Behind the scenes

• MacArthur was created by Faeelin, and is based on the mentioned-only location from the cancelled Fallout game, Van Buren.
• Although not intended, MacArthur had an incomplete version of its focus tree released with Old World Blues patch 4.0, resulting in various fixes being made. Faeelin hoped to wrap up MacArthur development by August of 2022, with the completion ideally being in the form of an independent focus tree release.
  • As of July 29, 2022, Faeelin had since left the Old World Blues team, with the updated MacArthur tree, as well as a Storm Mongers focus tree, to be released as an independent submod. The submod will potentially be integrated to the main mod. The submod was instead integrated into Old World Blues, resulting in the tree's completion as of Old World Blues patch 4.2.
• At one point, Faeelin wanted the Rotpurgers to work with the MacArthur Enclave, but was outvoted.
  • Faeelin also wished for the MacArthur Enclave's ability to reform the United States of America, but was also outvoted on the matter.
